Trying to figure out how I want to start finishing my illustration work and I think I’m getting close.
A little bit of Gouache, a little bit Photoshop, a little bit of colored pencil, a little bit luck.

Back around the beginning of the month, I drew this little two pager which appeared in a book distributed to 7 comic shops around Chicago for Free Comic Book day which I was out of town for because of TCAF.
The indomitable pair of Neil Brideau and Sam Sharpe organized and printed the book “HANDOUT COMICS Number 2” even after I gave them this whack comic about a salamander who thinks he’s a cowboy and rides a garter snake.
Please zoom in because this is going to look so funky on the Tumblr feed. THANKS <3

Recently, I’ve been feeling very frustrated by my normal way of doing things, especially after spending so much time glued to Photoshop preparing books and prints for TCAF. Photoshop is all well and fine but I think my love of it has been waning.
Now that I’ve been ink washing my comics pages on a light box it seems sorta silly that I’m not approaching all my work like this! And I love to paint, which I always seem to forget.
Also, I realized that this painting is accidentally a painting of a young Wilma Flintstone (when her last name was Slaghoople) wearing Fred’s shirt.

A quick promotional postcard I made before TCAF in the 11th hour, when I realized I was nearly out of my fancier postcards.
Funny, I was working on another postcard that I couldn’t finish in time, this more elaborate full color thing and I’m thinking of scraping that in lieu of this more simple one?! Who knows.
I wonder what employers will think of me if I’m promoting myself with a drawing that is just Double Dragon/River City Ransom fanart.

Just a heads up that I’ll be tabling at TCAF this weekend in the bright and beautiful city of Toronto! If you’re in the area, please stop by! This year I’m tabling with the fine folks of 2DCloud, where you can pick up the Little Heart anthology! Remember!?
Besides picking up that lovely little gem, I’ll also be selling my new book, the 56 page preview primer for Curveball, that thing I’ve been holed up in my cave working on. Each book is a three color silkscreen, hand cut fold up little number. On top of that I’ll have some new silk screened prints and a few copies of last year’s zine In The Parlor Room.
And for those not attending TCAF, I’ll also be tabling at CAKE here in Chicago and I’ll be attending SPX, so do not fret, there’ll be plenty of time left to see my goofy ass face.

I drew my fifth NewCity cover this week! Pick a copy up Chicagoans!
The turn around on this one was really tight, got the job Sunday morning and the final was due Tuesday morning. Record stores really stress me out and I inevitably feel like a plebeian shopping in one, especially because I only ever buy records for my little brother.
“No, honest, this Lady Gaga “Born This Way” Vinyl isn’t for me!”

While cleaning out my computer today and sorting through my harddrive, I found this drawing from a year and a half ago.
I can’t remember exactly what I was mad about at the time but it must have been something worthy of pee.
